Coming from Tessie

Moving from Tessie

Tessie documents its exports more completely than most, and DashM8 imports the Drives and Charges files it exports, read on your own computer. Here is how.

How to export from Tessie

In Tessie, open Drives, choose Select, then Select All, then Export. Open Charges and do the same; the charges come with their costs.

Choose both files on DashM8's import page, with the time zone their times are in. Each file names its units in its column headings, so miles and kilometres both read correctly.

Your files stay on your computer

DashM8 reads the export in your browser and sends one line per drive and per charge: when it started and ended, the distance, the energy, the battery levels and, if you choose, where it started and ended. The files themselves stay on your computer.

Where your history starts in DashM8

As far back as your export goes. Imported drives and charges sit beside what DashM8 records from the day you connect, marked as imported wherever they appear, and where DashM8 recorded the same drive itself, its own record is the one shown. Keep your export, and keep it private: it includes where you have been.

What DashM8 adds

What changes the day you connect:

  • Tesla's own Fleet Telemetry stream: the car sends its values as they change, and DashM8 never wakes it to read them.
  • Charging cost per place and time, against your own tariff, with the loss between the charger and the battery.
  • Battery health beside the state of health Tesla reports for your car.
  • A native iPhone app as well as the web, and one car free for good, with no card.
