Why a Tesla app costs money now
Tesla bills us for every signal your car sends, and one second between samples is a great many signals. The plans cover that, the servers that store it and the people who answer when something breaks. There are no ads in DashM8, and we do not sell your data or anyone else's.
That is also why the free plan is one car and seven days rather than everything forever: those are the limits at which the free tier pays for itself, and we would rather say so than dress a trial up as a gift.
What you keep if you stop paying
Your account export. Always, on every plan, including after a subscription ends: every trip, every charging session, as CSV and GPX. Cancelling drops you back to the free tier rather than locking you out, and deleting your account takes the raw telemetry with it.
The founding lifetime licence is capped at 100 owners and is not a subscription: one payment, nothing to cancel, tied to your account on iPhone and on the web. When the cap is reached the card stops selling rather than quietly staying up.
