Where the parked hours go
Charge disappearing overnight is the complaint that sends owners looking for an app in the first place. Measuring it honestly is harder than it sounds, and most of the work is deciding which hours count.
Only genuinely parked hours count
A naïve drain figure subtracts this morning's charge from last night's and divides by the hours. That silently includes any driving, any preconditioning, any charging that started and stopped, and it produces a number that says more about your week than about your car.
DashM8 counts only windows where the car was parked, not charging, and streaming steadily enough for the window to mean something. A window with gaps in it is marked lower-confidence rather than quietly averaged in, and the confidence is shown beside the figure, because a per-day percentage without one is not a measurement.
What actually moves it
Sentry Mode, cabin overheat protection, keeping the app connection alive, cold weather and the car's own maintenance wakes all draw from the pack while nothing appears to be happening. Because every window is timestamped and labelled, you can compare the same car with a setting on and the same car with it off, rather than reading someone else's forum estimate.
That is also the honest limit of what we will claim: we will publish before-and-after figures for specific settings when we have enough paired windows across enough cars, with the count printed, and not before.
